2026 GCHS Annual Picnic at Shoshone Point


Join us on Saturday, July 18th, for the GCHS annual picnic and award presentations at beautiful Shoshone Point on the South Rim.
 
 
Lunch will start around 1:00, followed by a brief GCHS update by President Tom Sulpizio, followed by presentation of the Pioneer Award to Colleen Hyde & Kim Besomand the Hall of Fame Award to Sue Hovey and Eric Gueissaz.
 
Everyone should bring: a dish to share (casserole, veggies, dessert, etc) and your preferred drinks

GCHS will be providing: the barbecue items (propane grill, hot dogs, steak), condiments, bottled water, plates, utensils and cups.

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect, but there will be a propane grill (no charcoal) and GCHS will provide hot dogs and precooked charbroiled steak heated on the grill.

Parking at the point will be limited; please carpool or plan to walk the one mile from the parking lot to the point. There will be volunteer vehicles to help ferry supplies and people who need assistance.

To get to Shoshone Point from the main entrance Google Map link:
• Take the East Rim Drive.
• About 1.5 miles beyond the road to Yaki Point, turn left into a dirt parking area and look for the yellow gate.
