Born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1942, Frank graduated in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University in 1966. As a newly minted graduate, Frank took a low paying job with the Bureau of Reclamation’s Central Arizona Project. One of his college courses was a two semester geology class he took in 1961. This class, taught by Professor Milford Benham, included overnight field trips to Phantom Ranch and Havasu Canyon. It was Franks first introduction to below-the-rim hiking but not his last… This is a six part interview.
