Membership is open to any person interested in the historical, educational, and charitable purposes of the Grand Canyon Historical Society. Membership is on an annual basis using the standard calendar and dues are payable on the 1st of January of each year.

Membership is $20 per year ($25 outside U.S.). To receive a membership application, send an e-mail with your name and postal address to Pioneers@GrandCanyonHistory.org, or complete the online application and send it with your check to the Grand Canyon Historical Society.

Membership in the Grand Canyon Historical Society has its benefits:
- Annual subscription to the magazine The Ol' Pioneer!
- Annual subscription to the newsletter The Bulletin.
- Access to all online GCHS Publications.
- Free admission to all GCHS programs and outings, including an annual picnic on the edge of the Canyon.
- Participation in the annual GCHS membership meeting and the election of Board Members.
The Grand Canyon Historical Society is governed by its By Laws and Articles on Incorporation dated 1984 under the direction of the Board of Directors:

Outing Coordinator Responsibilities
- Advance planning to assure a “mix” of South Rim, North Rim, Colorado Plateau, and Northern Arizona monthly outings.
- Select Monthly Outing Leaders and provide direction in planning the Outings.
- Report to the GCHS Board.
Monthly Outing Leader Responsibilities
- Organize the Monthly Outing
- Communicate with the Outing Presenter / Leader to provide leadership and resolve issues.
- Organize the Luncheon.
- Provide information to the Assistant Outing Coordinator for advertising the Outing.
- Provide information to the GCHS Bulletin Editor.
