Grand Canyon Historical Society 2002 Pioneer Awardee... William "Bill" C. Suran Historian, writer, and original editor of The Ol'Pioneer The Grand Canyon Pioneers Society Pioneer Award for 2002 was presented to Bill Suran for: preserving the history and lore of the Grand Canyon and Colorado Plateau through the numerous historical articles Bill wrote as editor of The Ol' Pioneer magazine; documenting the lives of the Grand Canyon Pioneers Emery and Ellsworth Kolb through his books "The Kolb Brothers of Grand Canyon" and "With the Wings of an Angel;" working on building and preserving the Grand Canyon Pioneers Society; contributing significantly to the Grand Canyon Pioneers Society Internet web site; and preserving historical photographs and documents through his contributions to the Northern Arizona University Cline Library Special Collections and Archives.
